• "Først tenke på brødet, da bruden." ... or something like that!
This is how much bread means to Norwegians ("First think about the bread, then the bride!")
I LOVE Norwegian bread! ... Ever since I first tasted it in 1968 on my first trip til gamle Norge.
When you take a bite, it says to you: "Now THIS is the stuff of life! Savor it!"
Its flavor is full, hearty, a bit sweet and not bitter. It has weight. There is substance to it. I have searched everywhere we've lived, east coast, west coast, midwest, and have not been able to find its equal in the U.S.
But now I am once again treating my taste buds to GROVBRØD and many other hearty wheat and rye breads of Norway!
