Okay, it's official ... I'm now a card-carrying member of the Moss Library!
Well, what do you expect of an English teacher?
The local library and book stores are always among the first things I look for in a new place (as well as good eateries and drinkeries, off the beaten track of course!).
The Moss library is particularly cozy, featuring lots of nice nooks in sunny places to read, write, and think. When I was there on Saturday, plenty of people, young and old, were enjoying what it has to offer. A few "regulars" it seems, were reading newspapers. Eager children were upstairs in the "loft" exploring the new books, using computers, working on art projects, and one young fellow was playing chess with his dad on a wonderfully carved, slightly larger set (I think the son was winning).
Among the nicely displayed stacks, open and easy to access, I found a section of books in English. Many new titles! And the DVD, CD, and audiobook sections had plenty to offer in both English and Norwegian.
One particularly friendly staff member helped me locate a Norwegian language CD series (MY studies while I'm here!)
The computer card catalog was multi-lingual, and the self check-out was very easy and convenient. Very cool!
